Went to Sunshine Thrift Store with a friend of mine today – first time ever there. Tons of stuff to look at. The plus size section was pretty extensive – much better than Goodwill. But before I get to the goodies (there’s not much, but I did get a few neat things), I have to comment about this one lady at the store.
She had a Louis Vuitton Pochette purse listed at $8.95. I just saw it on Ebay for $90 (and that was with a damaged handle). The LV site has it retailed at about $500. She didn’t buy it – the inside was ‘dirty’ (let me correct her – it was DUSTY). Are you FREAKING kidding me lady?? I’m half tempted to go back, buy it, and sell it.
Anyways, here’s the few items I purchased today. I’m still on the hunt for stuff to wear with my skirts, leggings and boots.
Black shirt with three-button details, priced at $3.45.
Black short sleeved cardigan, $6.95
Black plaid jumper with tuxedo pleats down the front, for $6.95.
I also found an unopened blank canvas (for painting on) for $4.95, size 24″x30″! I see a painting in my future…
That’s really about it for purchases today. I had a great time getting out with my friend, doing something we both love. Hopefully we’ll get to do it again soon!
Picked up some pins for my jacket from the site “Buddha Badges”. They have a ton of designs there at affordable prices. Most of the designs Buddhism-specific, and a portion of the proceeds to go charity. You can catch them at Buddha Badges.
From left to right: “METTA” – Loving-kindness, A Dharma Wheel overlaid with a Chaos Cross, and a “FREE DHARMA” pin – free Buddhism related discussion anytime, anywhere!
Took a trip to Michael’s to pick up black dye for some clothing experiments I’m hoping to try. I picked up a couple containers of RIT liquid dye, to dye a pair of dark grey jeans and a pair of heather grey arm warmers to black.
I also have a sheer shirt in this burnt orange colour which I used to love, but now I just don’t wear it at all anymore. I’m not sure if it’s nylon or polyester or what, so I decided to try and find iDye Poly fabric dye and give it a whirl… unfortunately only Joann’s has it, so I had to make a second trip to Joann’s to get it.
The plus side of getting to go to Michael’s is hitting up the last of their Halloween clearance – yay! It’s my favourite holiday of the year. So I picked up a few things:
16 (two eight packs) Coffin Shaped note cards with envelopes: $3 ($1.50 each)
Hexes & Curses witchy box: $4
Skully candle holder (currently containing a glass candle that I also bought on clearance at Michael’s a few weeks ago 3/$10): $4
I got told by my partner I can’t spend any more money for a while 😛 So that’s all for the time being. Ta!
I have been a member of the goth/punk/rivet community since 1991, and while I might not “dress the part” so much now, my heart is still with them. In honour of Halloween, I’d like to share some goth related videos, and other goth related articles and outfits throughout the month of October.

Hi, folks! Went to Plato’s Closet for the first time today and was really impressed with the sheer volume of clothing and accessories they sell. First I perused their bags and purses. I saw a few things I liked, but I didn’t want to spend $12 on the cute plaid messenger bag (maybe I’ll go back and get it another time). I saw a pair of Cons that I considered getting, but skipped it this time. The men’s jeans were all too big and baggy for my tastes, so I skipped those too. I hit up the huge wall-o-tshirts, and found a few that I really liked. I also picked up a purple plaid button down shirt, and a small shirt for my partner’s teen daughter. Instagram pics below:
Purple Plaid Button Down Shirt – Cost: $3
“Black” tshirt – Cost $3
Neon Skullies tshirt – Cost: $6
Bleeding Heart tshirt – Cost $6
Anarchist Closet is a one-woman shop located here in Tampa, and is known as a thrift store for those of the gothic or punk persuasion. They have a great selection, some awesome costume options for the upcoming Halloween holiday, and tons of shoes! The owner is amazing, too. I only bought 3 things for myself (the majority of our fashion budget went to my partner’s daughter, who spent about $150 on herself!). They also accept orders on footwear, and have a great selection to choose from. This time around I picked up:
Green army jacket – boy do I have plans for this one! I’ve already priced some gunmetal black spikes for the shoulders, and added a patch to the chest (more to come!). Cost: $10
Dead Kennedy’s patch. Cost: $4. Love DK and had to make them the first addition to my collection.
Skully and spike belt buckle. Having worn this for almost a week now, I can say that it’s probably pewter. I know this because I have an allergy to nickel, and most belt buckles cause a reaction with my skin. I haven’t had any such problem with this nifty looking buckle. Cost: $5.
I have another patch (a transgender one) on it’s way from Etsy to add to the jacket, and I’ll be purchasing the spikes soon from Studsandspikes.com
Can’t wait to hit up another thrift store soon! Stay tuned!
